“Body, mind, and soul are not separate. They are more like facets of our being…intertwined with each other.”
The awareness of their oneness and the joy it can bring, can be nurtured by anyone who is willing.
The Purpose of awareness:
It’s really hard to engage into anything without knowing the “Why” – why are we doing what we’re doing.
The purpose of raising our level of awareness is to live a more conscious life.
An unconscious life is like living in an ‘asleep’ state on an autopilot mode. It’s similar to being a puppet with strings in the powerful hands of our own subconscious mind, which drives our actions & reactions to life; based on its programming and conditioning since birth (or maybe many lifetimes).
The purpose of living a more aware and conscious life is to awaken ourselves from that sleep.
To examine our mind, our emotions, reactions and our beliefs, to be able to see how all these impact our way of being in this world.
What does awareness do to you?
Awareness brings you more alive (you become truly awake, right!)
Awareness gives you a deep knowledge of yourself, your being.
It helps you gain control of your thoughts and emotions and make reasonable choices in your life!
It helps you make right decisions in life, from a place of awareness rather than emotions or mind only.
It helps you live a more meaningful and peaceful life, more loving too ❤️
it helps you connect with yourself, others and life itself effortlessly.
Steps to Awareness:
1. Pay attention!
Pay attention to your inner world… your thoughts and emotions.
Just observe them without judging or labelling them or indulging in them.
If anything disturbs your peace of mind or irritates you, immediately pay attention, breathe and ask yourself…
– Why am I feeling this?
-What are the thoughts behind my emotions?
– Can I be more accepting and calm in this situation?
– What do I really (REALLY) want right now?
If you’re wanting to prove yourself or desire someone’s approval, question again, is this what I really want?
If your answer is yes, question yourself why??
Why do I’ve the need to control, need to prove, need to get approval?
How does it help me live a life I want?
2. Be aware of your words and actions!
Most of the times, we’re just saying or doing things on autopilot. We don’t stop to think, why are we doing what we’re doing. And we wonder why are we not in harmony with ourselves and others in our life.
Start asking yourself the right questions, at right time, like:
– Why I am doing what I am doing? (for example you are thinking or chatting on what’sApp)
– How these thoughts or action are in alignment with what I want in life?
– Why my family complain about me?
– How much do I complain and why?
– How much do I expect from others and why?
– What do I expect from others that I don’t give to them?
3. Become an observer of your mind & emotions!
Rather than indulging or entertaining your thoughts & emotions, become an observer of your thoughts and emotions.
The best way to cultivate this skill is to meditate*. Meditation is not stopping your thoughts, but it’s focussing your attention inward, either on your breath or a mantra or inner sounds n sensations in your body. Every time your mind wander, you just bring your attention back to what you’re focussing on (breath, mantra or sounds).
Slowly and gradually, you’ll notice that stillness is a part of your being and you experience a deep peace & bliss that you’ve never experienced before.
You’ll also notice that the same thoughts & emotions don’t disturb you any more as they used to do before.
4. Listen to your Body & Heart:
Your body is constantly talking to you. When it needs to move and stretch. When it needs water and food. What it wants to get nourished and what not.
When we start tuning in and listening to our body….a miracle happens in our life. A miracle of new awareness!
Your heart is also speaking to you, only if you listen attentively.
When we pay pure attention to our heart, we can bring extraordinary joy to ordinary moments, by our sheer presence.
The key to achieving great level of awareness is constant practice.
If we turn our attention from it just for a moment, we lose it and get trapped by our ego. Then we react with anger, irritation or any other behaviour or words and we might regret later.
Slowly with practice, you’ll notice that you are becoming more and more aware…like you’re in meditative state 24×7, which means you’re able to observe the events, your thoughts and emotions, without getting disturbed by them.
It might seem like hard work but it’s quite miraculous and energetic. It’s nature is pure bliss & joy. You’ve a new control over your inner world now. You’re not a victim of your mind, rather you’re in charge of it.
Everything you think, you say or do, is by your choice not just happening automatically.
Good one…to raise awareness..Thank you Doctor.
“stillness is a part of your being and you experience a deep peace & bliss”
Stillness is a part ..what will happen when we achieved this?
What are the other parts of Being?
Thanks a lot Jailani. When we experience deep bliss & peace, we stop running after outside things to achieve this. We carry this bliss in our inner world and do all we want to do from the place of that joyfulness…hence spread joy to others and this universe. This can happen when we truly understand ourselves.
Thanks saloni , love your thoughts , and what you are spreading , joy !!
Thanks a lot dear Ashuma 🙂
