Why Positive Thinking Often Fails and What Works Instead?

If you’re wondering why I am opposing positive thinking which everyone knows is a great thing to do. Please read further to understand….

I am not advocating in any way not to think positively. It surely might help a little.

But I want you to come with me and explore a little deep….

When we experience something unwanted or undesired in life, suddenly fear, stress, negative thoughts or feelings arise in our mind and body and we try to overcome then with positive thinking. Like, everything is fine, it’s going to be OK. All is well. I am abundant in health and wealth etc etc.

It’s all well and good except two things here –

1. We might not have taken time to be in silent space of acceptance of the situation or circumstance; which is the first step to transform or transcend any situation.

The moment we sit in silence, and just observe what’s happening; whether it’s in our body (any illness) mind (fear, overwhelm or worry) or our heart (an undesired feeling), we begin the process of acceptance. We start becoming one with the present moment or life.

2. We might be resisting or avoiding the negative feelings or thoughts.

What we resist, persists.

If we try to avoid the negative and cover it with the positive, it will never dissolve, rather come back with full force some time later.

So what is important is that we become like water in sea, a pure positive space. The space where waves of discomfort, disease, excitement, annoyance, setback, grief might come and then naturally go.

We remain an observer, stay in our solid, positive state without getting influenced by the waves of excitement or disappointment, just like the Sea.

Now I hope, you’re wondering how to do it?

Simply by thinking less and observing more…

Purpose of thinking is to plan and execute action!

Solve, but not judge or make meaning out of everything

By speaking less and listening more…

To yourself, others and life itself…the more you practice this, the better you become at lisyening yto your true inner voice and life itself…

And even the source. Right!

By sitting in silence everyday at least for 10 min.

Just focusing on your breath that comes n goes…

Be aware and in touch with the rhythm of your breath.

By journaling your thoughts in a diary.

To take them out on paper and keep your mind clear, calm n still… as it can be.

By spending some time in nature, with children or pets…

Just being, enjoy for sheer joy of being alive, without a need to do anything…

So it’s not about trying to make a thing negative or positive…it’s all about living as a pure n positive being, in acceptance of life as it is…if you like, you can call it acceptance thinking 💛

What do you think about being an observer, accept the current reality and then take action from that place of Active acceptance.

Much love.
