We are addicted to Unhappiness.

Do you keep going back to your old patterns whether it’s guilt or blame, self-sabotage or victimhood?

You feel good for few days and then again you begin getting sucked in the whirlpool of negativity as if it’s pulling you.

Even if everything is going well, you make sure to find a reason to be unhappy.

Either you criticise yourself or someone else for your unhappiness and keep going round n round in this downhill spiral.

Ever wondered why do you do that?

“Because we all are addicted to negativity and unhappiness; and ironically we are constantly in the pursuit of happiness.”

We are always talking about problems, bad news, and negativity around us as if we enjoy being the victim of our circumstances, society, and environment around.

I am not talking about people who generally feel low, unhappy or depressed.

‘I am talking about you, me, all of us as a society.’

We only chase something that we don’t have or we think we don’t have – that’s Happiness.

There is no rocket science in this, that we all want to be happy; even a little child can tell that.

Everything we do, we do it in order to be happy or in order to avoid pain.

For many generations, humans have believed that someday when we conquer over others, have power, money or fame, or we’ll do something great we will be happy (finally!!).

While the reality is that someday has never come and never will because the happiness we got from achieving all this was temporary and didn’t satisfy our heart and soul.

Happiness is humankind’s natural dharma (innate nature).

Happiness is as natural as breathing only if, we could connect with our true nature.

You must be wondering if happiness is our natural tendency then why wars?

Why fights?

Why so much chaos?

Why are we not happy then?

This is not an error of universe, rather it’s part of our soul evolution journey.

As we all can see there is no mistake in this universe; every unit of this universe is in harmony with others and is with a definite conduct and natural law, except human beings.

This proves that we humans need to evolve in our ‘mind and soul’ in order to learn how to live in harmony with our inner being and outside nature.

An important thing to understand as proven by many psychological studies is –

‘The opposite of any addiction is connection.’

Connection with self, with other human beings, with nature & whole existence.

What can we do to connect with happiness within and our natural inner being?

Connect!

What makes us most happy is connecting with others

Connect with other human beings.

Connect in your relationships at a deeper level, drop the facade

Start connecting with yourself, your body, your surroundings.

Practice mindfulness, pay attention to the present moment. Be present.

Practice kindness, be kind to yourself and others.

Connect with the higher purpose of your life and create meaning in life.

Connect with every single thing in your life.

“Connection is Happiness.”

What are your view on happiness, unhappiness, and connection, please share with me; would love to hear from you.

  1. Wonderful knowledge about happiness.. it’s so true that we only focus on lack as our habit .. and feel unhappiness all the time .. instead we should see what we are blessed with.. yes, inclusiveness is one key to be happy and serving or helping others is another key to happiness.. loved your words..

  2. Whole life we keep running after happiness, but the truth is it’s right there in every little thing we love to do, every person we love to spend time with…..we just need to make ourselves aware religiously
